About Us

We are Big Spoon Bakery! But, you probably already knew that. What you might not know however, is that we’re two self-taught sister-bakers from South Florida who started baking out of our college apartment in 2016; what began with simple cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops in-between our part-time jobs and full-time schooling, has transformed into our full-time career– complete with experience in creating wedding cakes, delivering top-tier catering services, and perfecting every sweet imaginable (we have a hard time saying no).

We’ve overcome many challenges, both personal and professional (including moving apart for a few years, and learning that cake flour and bread flour are not interchangeable, respectively), but what we’ve learned time and time again –and what has quickly become the ethos of Big Spoon– is that sisterhood is our most valuable asset. As a couple of life-long sisters, we know a thing or two about the subject; and, any sister will agree: being a good one means practicing compassion, (a lot of) patience, and leading by example. We believe in treating everyone like they’re your sister… or, maybe more accurately: that we’re all a small part of a much larger community; and when we show up for each other, whether it be through practicing tolerance in difficult conversations, or by lending a helping hand to a person in need, we have the power to create a lasting impact for ourselves, one another, and (arguably, most importantly) for our future.

We dedicate a lot of time to getting to know and love our community, but we also know that nothing spreads the love quite like the perfect slice of cake, or a treat that tugs on a childhood memory. With experience in both home and professional baking, we knew we had a lot to bring to the table and that people needed a place like Big Spoon now more than ever.

Community, creativity, genuine kindness, and a love for food: that’s what BSB is all about; we hope you'll join our flock come along for the ride!
